The 19th Annual “A Round For Life” Auction Dinner Gala and Golf Tournament is set to take place April 14-15 at the fabulous Indian Ridge Country Club in sun drenched Palm Desert. For me, this is one of the most important charitable events of the season. The Desert Cancer Foundation has been around since 1994 and has raised more than $25 million in services for cancer patients in need across the Coachella Valley.
Helping to provide a wide range of services including chemotherapy, radiation, screenings, cancer surgeries and diagnostics this is a charity we can all embrace. Nearly all of us have been or will be touched by cancer through friends or family during our lifetime. The emotional and physical challenges are devastating but if money is also an issue or lack of sufficient health insurance impedes the treatment process, it can add pain and heartache to an already difficult time. The Desert Cancer Foundation is making sure help is near.
This year Southern California’s favorite comedic weatherman Fritz Coleman will be on hand to host the gala Saturday night dinner along with popular “All My Children” soap opera star John Callahan. A silent auction, live auction and raffle will round out the evening’s festivities. Featured will be a round trip for two to one of 271 global destination on Turkish Airways. Only 300 tickets will be sold at $100 each. The golf tournament will kick off at 7 AM the following morning on the bucolic golf course at Indian Ridge Country Club.
This magnificent venue in Palm Desert is the ultimate in luxury with two Arnold Palmer Signature golf courses, unsurpassed tennis facilities and a full service health spa with world class fitness center. Voted the 2012 Best of Private Golf Courses by Palm Springs Life Magazine, it is easy to see why this was the venue of choice for the Desert Cancer Foundation’s biggest annual event.
You may have already noticed that April in the Mohave Desert is stunning. Perfect days filled with sunshine and evenings with warm breezes accent the unique desert foliage in full bloom this time of year. This is the place to take a deep breath and relax and unwind as you take in the surrounding landscapes. Even as the Social Season winds down there is still plenty of action across the valley with some of our biggest events yet ahead. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy some great golfing and support cancer research at the 19th Annual “A Round For Life” coming up soon.
