The generosity of the people of Coachella Valley is legendary. In fact, one of the hallmarks of old Palm Springs were the charitable pursuits of the people who lived here and the many celebrities who loved to visit. That signature giving has remained part and parcel of life in this beautiful desert. On January 21, 2013 the Palm Desert Classic Club golf course will be the venue for the 10th annual Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Golf Tournament.
Since its inception in 1971, the rescue mission has been a cornerstone of our community. Providing a wide range of services for less fortunate individuals, the rescue mission is designed to assist those in need until they are able to be self-sufficient once again. Faith-based programming supports and encourages independence, mental and physical health and well-being, shelter, nutrition, and much more. Residents of the mission are treated with dignity and concern for their individual needs.
As dedicated golfers arrive across the Valley those who have not played previously on the Arnold Palmer – designed Classic Club Golf Course are in for a treat. The host site for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic this incredible course has received numerous accolades from such distinguished sources as the Audubon Society, Golf Travel Annual, GolfWeek including a 2009 nod as GolfWeek’s Resource Course of Distinction and many more. With 14 bridges, five sets of Tees on each hole, 30 acres of water features, emerald green rolling terrain and every luxury amenity it is truly a golfer’s paradise.
For those who wish to explore the course ahead of time, a virtual flyover tour is available on the Classic Club website. Centrally located in Palm Desert, the venue is surrounded by luxury hotel accommodations, fine dining, gambling casinos and world-class spas making this charitable event a family affair for anyone who wishes to come along. January weather in the Valley is near perfect with daytime temperatures hovering around 70°, crystal blue skies and abundant sunshine.
It is hard to imagine a more perfect spot to raise money for such a worthy cause. At $175 per player there is no doubt that the 10th Annual Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Charity Golf Tournament will raise a substantial amount to keep the programs and valuable work of the rescue mission operating for the coming year. I look forward to seeing all our friends both old and new on January 21.
