California Dreamin’ at the Palm Springs Art Museum

by Brad Schmett The Palm Springs Art Museum has done it again. Of the hundreds of incredible exhibits they have presented over the past few years the latest one will have to become a favorite. Spanning thirty years of art specific to California, the California Dreamin’ Exhibit will be on display for its final two weeks at the museum from July 13-31, every day except Monday from 11am to 4pm to the delight of art lovers in the Coachella Valley. There is arguably no sport that is more loved and recognized as American than that of baseball. Here in Palm Springs we are very fortunate to have the Palm Springs POWER Baseball Organization, founded by Andrew Starke in the fall of 2003. Each year it has grown and flourished and become even more popular than the years passed. The 2014 season is certainly no exception as it kicked off on May 30 to a rousing opening-day fireworks show and full stadium attendance. Personally, I think one of the things that has made this baseball club so popular is its attention to individual causes and local appreciation. This is truly a “hometown” baseball club reminiscent …

I could not be more excited about July 11-13 at the Indio Performing Arts Center. For the first time ever the “City of Festivals” will present the Coachella Improv/Comedy Festival in collaboration with the Performing Arts Center and it is going to be a 3 day extravaganza of laughs and learning for the lucky participants. The venue itself could not be more perfect as it has three small theaters along with a central 300 seat ballroom. With plenty of space to host three days of performances and workshops, the Indio Performing Arts Center will be just the place for future Improv/Comedy Festivals, and you can bet there will be many of those for years …

Produced by Swazzle, attention to detail and lavish props make this 55 minute, bilingual musical a …
