October is always one of the most enjoyable months of the year in the Coachella Valley, filled with exciting events and new adventures. On October 1, the La Quinta Outdoor Certified Farmers Market will kick off its fall season to the delight of everyone who enjoys the freshest produce and finest products anywhere in the California desert. From 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Sundays, October through May the farmers market is one of the most enjoyable ways I can think of to spend the day. Since most of us who live in the valley are health-conscious and always looking for new and innovative ways to live better, the open-air markets are one of our favorite weekend pursuits.
There is always music, live chef demonstrations and a wide array of foods and beverages prepared on site to your order. Delicious, locally made tamales, freshly brewed coffee or cappuccino, and many other food choices make it easy to take a break and enjoy a sample of something new. L’Artisan Bakery is on hand with freshly baked breads and other delectable bakery items. M F Ranch and Da-Le Ranch will be on hand for the best in chicken, beef, rabbit, pork, and lamb. Our own Herbivore Farm from Sky Valley brings in fresh and dried herbs and plants.
Old town La Quinta could not be a more charming and amenable backdrop for the farmer’s market. Surrounded by wonderful restaurants and plenty of great boutique shopping, it is easy to spend an entire day enjoying all the amenities at your fingertips. At the farmers market select from lavender products, organic salsas and sauces, fine olive oils, avocado oils and lotions, sauerkraut, organic nuts, fresh squeezed orange juice, and so much more. Open from October 1, 2017 through May 27, 2018 the Certified Farmers Market is the place to go for all those specialty items that are often hard to find.
You can also get a jump on your Christmas shopping since local artisans offer exquisite and one-of-a-kind gifts and collectibles. Pick up fresh cut flowers for someone you love, your favorite fragrances in lotions and handmade soaps, and the best in pet products for those special fur babies at home. By the way, these outdoor markets are always pet friendly so bring along a leash and your canine companions and make a day of it. Make it a great week and hope to see you there!
