The Empire Polo Club in Indio will be the happy venue from January 5-8, 2017 of the Kennel Club of Palm Springs Dog Shows to the delight of canine lovers across the Coachella Valley. This is the 40th consecutive year of this prestigious event which brings in 3,000 of the nation’s most beautiful purebred dogs of almost every breed imaginable. The purpose of course, is more than just enjoying our favorite breeds. It is also centered on competition, rally and obedience. Perhaps most importantly, the dog shows raise awareness of responsible pet ownership and give us all a chance to appreciate the beauty of these favorite domesticated pets.
Members of the Kennel Club of Palm Springs are breeders, exhibitors and pet owners who are tirelessly devoted to their beloved dogs and to the welfare of all pets. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM in the library of the Palm Springs Police Department. Organized in 1978 the first American Kennel Club licensed show was held at the Palm Springs Pavilion on January 8, 1984 with 2,183 entries. It is easy to understand why the shows have grown year after year when one considers the popularity of dog ownership here in the Coachella Valley.
Show Superintendent Jack Bradshaw comes from a long line of hard-working dog owners and show people going back to the 1890’s when his ancestors arrived from England. The Bradshaw name has become synonymous with dog shows the world over and it is a great honor to continue that legacy here in the Valley. The Bradshaw’s arrive ahead of every show to set up and make sure everything is perfection for both the canines and their humans. From start to finish the Bradshaw’s take care of every detail including answering questions, and handling each and every aspect of the show.
This particular show is considered one of the most prestigious on the West Coast as well as in the United States. In my opinion, it is hard to think of a better venue than the spacious and comfortable Empire Polo Grounds in Indio. Just across from the beautiful City of La Quinta it is the perfect and convenient location for all of our east valley neighbors and friends. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy your favorite breed. My Team and I wish you a safe and prosperous 2017 and hope to see you in the coming year!
