Coachella Fest Week Two Brings Crowds To The Palm Springs Area

Coachella Fest

Spring is in full swing here in the greater Palm Springs area and thanks to all the rain this year we have the most spectacular display of wildflowers we’ve seen in years. With Mt. San Gorgonio still capped with snow, the vistas that surround us are truly breathtaking. In the midst of all this, April welcomes the Coachella Music and Arts Festival for two consecutive weekends April 14-16 and April 21-23, 2017 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio. The excitement around the Valley is palpable as we get ready to welcome Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, and Radiohead along with dozens more of the world’s most talented and gifted artists.

Passes for the concert went on sale January 4 and of course sold out shortly thereafter. Beyonce was the originally planned headliner but due to her advanced pregnancy handed over her spot to Lady Gaga who graciously stepped in. The fabulous Lady Gaga is known not only for her over the top performances and unique outfits, but also for her social activism and those amazing duets with Tony Bennett. Radiohead spent a large part of 2016 on tour promoting their release, A Moon Shaped Pool so Coachella will be their first scheduled 2017 date in the United States.

Kendrick Lamar is a local Southern California resident, born in 1987 and launching his career in 2003. He has collaborated with a number of artists in the hip-hop industry including The Game, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes. His performance on the Grammys in 2015 was critically acclaimed as was his third album To Pimp a Butterfly which was honored by the Grammys.

Although everyone is looking forward to the musical lineup there are many who are also looking forward to the dizzying display of delicious cuisine that awaits us. With more than 100 vendors serving up everything from our favorite wood fired pizzas to street tacos to Pad Thai cooked in a wok the options are almost limitless. Expect to see plenty of special dietary choices to including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian.

Let’s also not forget that the art offerings on exhibit will be as spectacular as the music headliners. Everywhere you look during the festival you will be surrounded by some of the most spectacular artistic endeavors on the planet made by well-established as well as up-and-coming artisans especially for the festival. Come on out and enjoy one or both weekends with all of us as we indulge our music, art and foodie cravings throughout the month of April. Make it a great week and hope to see you there!
